Ms. Arcenia Marie Betiku was born to the parentage of the late Eliza J. Walker & the late Jerry Walker, Sr. on July 27, 1948 in Texarkana. She graduated from Booker T. Washington Senior High School in Texarkana, Arkansas - class of 1966.

Arcenia joined the Church of the Living God (CWFF) Temple #4 at an early age. She was on the T4 Finance Team where she served as the Financial Secretary. She previously served as an Usher on the T4 Usher Board; sang with T4 Gospel Choir, Golden Voices, and Radio Choir; volunteered on the T4 Hospitality Committee; and was a former member of the T4 Women’s Ministry. She was a very FAITHFUL Member of T4. She attended Morning Worship Service every Sunday and Bible Study every Wednesday night until her health began to decline, then she would watch services via Livestream. It gave Mother Betiku great joy to provide transportation to several church goers who were family and long-time friends that lived nearby.

She worked at State First National Bank for over 10 years; Miller County Detention Center for five years; The Annex for two years; and she retired from the Miller County Jail after working there for a number of years. Mother Arcenia Betiku loved her family and friends. Some of her favorite pastimes were going to her church, hanging out at the Sandflat-Glendale Neighborhood Center, and singing & dancing with her daughters; grand children; and nieces. Her famous word was “Smooches!”

Arcenia was preceded in death by her mother, Eliza J. Walker; her father Jerry Walker, Sr.; her brothers Jerry Walker, Jr. and Don T. Watson; her sister Betty J. DeFrance; grandparents, Elder Joseph & Annie J. Watson. Arcenia’s wish was to be cremated - her ashes will be placed in an Hummingbird Urn and also shared with her family members & closest friends.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Shanta Grant Hall & Yolanda Grant of Texarkana, AR;  two brothers and one sister-in-law, John Henry Walker of Texarkana, Texas and Phillip Watson (Latres) of Texarkana, Arkansas; one sister and one brother-in-law, Nancy Fulsom (DeWayne) of Texarkana, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren: Bridney Grant, Mary Newsome, James “JJ” Dockery, Jr., Brandi Nelson, Alexandrea Scott, & Courtland Grant; 16 great grandchildren: Tekaylon Marquay, Guidance Renee, Jessie Messiahas, Prince Michael La’Von, Khamari DeVon, Sekani, Jaylon, Jaliyah, Jayce, Justice, Jovani, Jerzei, Corey, Laila, Kay’Lynn, & Charlee; one Special Friend - Evangelist Shirley Reuben; and a host of nephews; nieces; uncle; aunts; cousins; other relatives; & friends.

I've known Armenia for years as well as Mr.Jerry Walker and Mrs.Jaunita. I grew up in the community. She was so pretty and could have been a model. Her personality was that of her mother. She was the last of the community. I offer my condolence and let it be known that she has earned her golden wings 2 wings that sealed her faith.

Ms. Betiku was one of my favorite customers at the bank. She loved to wait on me to help her and we would talk for several minutes and we always managed to talk about how good God has been to us. I had a chance to meet one of daughters and she was very sweet also. I will miss her. We even worked at the Juvenile Detention Center together for a short while. Rest in love Ms. Betiku.
