Mr. Donny Ray Lloyd, 60, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on August 8, 2025. Born on February 9, 1965, in Texarkana, Texas, Donny was the beloved son of the late William Jr. and Jeanette Lloyd. Donny was preceded in death by his parents William Jr. and Jeanette Lloyd: his grandparents Altha and Geanette McFadden; and William Sr. and Laura Lloyd. Donny's life was marked by a deep commitment to education, service, and faith.
He began his academic journey at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, where he earned a full scholarship. He later transferred to Bishop College and received an Associate of Science degree in Business. His pursuit of knowledge continued at Philander Smith University in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he became a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Donny ultimately completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Business at Grambling State University. In recognition of his early promise and leadership, Donny was honored as an Outstanding Young Man in 1992 by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.— a distinction that foreshadowed a lifetime of dedication to community and service. Professionally, Donny dedicated himself to the well-being and development of others. He served as a Child Protective Specialist and as a schoolteacher in both Arkansas and Texas. His work reflected his compassion and commitment to supporting families and children across state lines. Donny also served his country with pride as a member of the National Guard in Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana. His sense of duty extended beyond military service into civic life. He was a proud Mason affiliated with the Masonic Lodge in Texarkana, Arkansas.
Faith was a cornerstone of Donny's life. He accepted Christ at an early age at Bright Star Baptist Church in Texarkana and later moved his membership to Friendship West Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. His spiritual journey was central to his character and guided him throughout his life.
Donny found great joy in sports-both playing and watching football and basketball. A loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks, he shared many spirited moments cheering on his favorite teams.
He leaves to cherish his memory: one son, Donny Lloyd Jr., and bonus daughter: Jessica Murphy, two daughters, Tailor Lloyd and Tia Williams; three grandchildren: Donovan Lloyd, “Dontae” Lloyd and Earl “EJ" Smith; two sisters: Patricia Lloyd and Dee Winn Lloyd Mitchell; one niece, Danette Pierce; one nephew, Christian Smith; along with many other family members and friends who were touched by his life.
