James E. Davis, Jr. was born in Ashdown, AR to James Davis, Sr. and
Earsie Wilder-Davis.
James united with St. Rest Baptist Church at an early and went on to
join Mt. Grove Baptist Church in his adult life. James was an active
and faithful member. In the lateral days, his health may had kept
him from attending services in person but it did not stop him from
continuing to always give God the praise.
James had a witty sense of humor, always joking about something. He
was an avid bowler, fisherman, a fan of the Denver Broncos, and
up to recently, also, a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. James is
preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Lonnie L. Davis, and
Alberta, his first wife and the mother of his four wonderful
children.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Edna; five children: James
Davis, III and Solomon Davis (both of Arlington, TX), Dawndra Davis
and LaDamiem Davis (both of Texarkana), and Ednalyn Baliza of the
Philipines; six grandchildren: Na’Kya, Limaje, Daniyah, Kalani,
Ja'Kyre, & Princess; two brothers: Steven Brown (Beverly), Tom, OK;
Willie Wilder, Ashdown, AR; four sisters: Earline Davis, Mattlene
Miller, both of Texarkana, AR; April Thurston (Curtis), Texarkana, TX;
and Angela Blakeney (Maurice), Wylie, TX; and a host of aunts,
uncles, nieces and nephews.
