Linda Jean Curry was born on April 8, 1948, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Ethel Mae Canida and Jessie Reader, Linda lived a life marked by faith, love, and service. She departed this life on April 26, 2025, at her residence, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering commitment to her family and community.
Linda was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1966, and continued her education at Texarkana College. She was a faithful member of Miles Chapel CME Church, where her strong belief in service and spirituality guided her throughout her life.
In 1965, she married the love of her life, Michael Ray Curry, with whom she shared a beautiful union until his passing in 1998. Linda dedicated over 25 years of her life to Christus St. Michael Hospital, where her compassion and professionalism left a lasting impact on both colleagues and patients.
Beyond her career, Linda was deeply involved in her community. She was a member of Sandflat Circle and the NAACP, using her voice to advocate for equality and justice. She also dedicated her time as a volunteer with the **Retired Senior Volunteer Program, always eager to give back and support those in need.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Canida; father, Jessie Reader; stepfather, Hayes Canida, Sr.; husband, Michael Ray Curry; and her sisters, Dorothy J. Hopkins, Diane Canida, and Rose Mary Canida.
Linda leaves behind cherished memories and an enduring love in the hearts of her children: Terry Harris (Mike) of Baltimore, MD; Sherry Curry-Taylor (Jaron) of Baltimore, MD; and Michael Curry (Malissa) of Texarkana, AR.
She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Carolyn Lewis (Raven) of Texarkana, AR; Laura Canida Benton (William) of Texarkana, AR; Sharon Pitts of Bossier City, LA; Rhonda Canida of Texarkana, AR; Hayes Canida, Jr. (Doris) of Genoa, AR; Johnny Canida (Marcella) of Texarkana, AR; and Richard Canida (Kay) of Texarkana, TX.
Linda was adored by her grandchildren Tayler Harris (Teon) of Baltimore, MD; Alejtche Curry of Kansas City, MO; Jeral Hall-Curry of Texarkana, TX; Erion Mace of Clarksville, TN; Mikal Curry (Deon) of Texarkana, TX; and Braylen Curry-Rivers of Baltimore, MD. She leaves behind eight great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and dear friends. She also leaves behind sister-in-law, Cassandra Bursey of Round Rock, TX. and brother-in-law Sam Curry of Marshall, TX.
Linda Jean Curry lived a life full of love, faith, and dedication to those around her. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy of kindness, service, and compassion will continue to shine through the lives she touched.
