Freddie Lee Martin was a man of few words, but he showed great respect in every room he entered. When he spoke, you had no choice but to listen. He never had to raise his voice to command attention. Everyone who crossed his path had love and admiration for him. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. Freddie had a special gift for filling a room with laughter. He told the best stories and shared the funniest jokes. The phrase “one in a million” is truly an understatement. There is not one person who could ever fill his shoes, even if they fit. He was a true stand-up, God-fearing man.
Freddie Lee Martin was born on January 20, 1943, to the late Elizabeth and Percy Martin. He attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. In 1969, he met and married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Blair. Together, they shared 56 beautiful years of marriage and raised three children in a home filled with love.
At an early age, Freddie gave his life to Christ. His love for God was evident through his faithful servant leadership as a Deacon for more than 45 years. He began his ministry at Lanesport Baptist Church in Garland, Arkansas. Later, after moving to Texarkana with his family, he joined Lonoke Baptist Church, where he continued serving as a Deacon. His final years of servant leadership were devoted to Bright Star Baptist Church.
Freddie began his working career at Cooper Tire, where he dedicated many years before retiring. Retirement blessed him with the opportunity to spend the last 20 years of his life enjoying precious time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
On Sunday, May 10, 2026, Freddie Martin transitioned peacefully from his earthly life at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving wife and children.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth and Percy Martin; Brothers Charles Martin Sr., Anderson Martin, Percy Martin and James Martin. Sisters; Lubenia Belcher, Luvenia Linton, Odell Martin Johnson and Elizabeth Greer , his son Freddie Martin Jr. and other relatives.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Mary Martin; one son, Lamont Martin; two daughters, Shaun (Darin) Jones and Misty Martin; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; His sister Ruby Wilkerson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
Freddie Lee Martin’s legacy of love, faith, wisdom, and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
