Richard Lanorda Wingfield, Jr. of Texarkana, Arkansas, departed this life on July 17, 2025. He was born on February 13, 1955 to Ophelia and Richard Wingfield, Sr.

After graduating from Texas High School in 1973, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served at Kincheloe Air Force Base in Michigan as an 81130 Security Forces Specialist. Richard pursued higher education in Criminal Justice Administration, earning an associate degree from Texarkana Community College. He continued his studies at East Texas State University-Texarkana (now Texas A&M University-Texarkana) and earned a Bachelor of Science degree.

Professionally, Richard was employed with Red River Army Depot. After many years of service, he retired. After retirement, he became a federal contractor as a Counselor/Investigator/Consultant for federal agencies.

Richard met Carol Janet Tumblin and was united in marriage. From this union, one son, Antonio (Tony) L. Wingfield was born. Carol preceded him in death. He later united in marriage to Jacqueline Harvey.

Richard grew up in Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He lived a fulfilling life as a husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, in-law, and friend. He loved traveling, going to the gym, tending to the yard, watching the news and sports. He was a proud member of West Gate Masonic Lodge # 402 A.F. & A.M., Texarkana, Texas.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents and first wife. He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline Harvey, his son, Antonio Wingfield, of Dallas, Texas, his brother, Samuel Stuckey IV (Betty) of Lithonia, Georgia, his sister Wayne Marie Stuckey McFerguson of Texarkana, Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends.

As we grieve, we are consoled by our endless, fun memories of crossing State Line to visit you, Aunt Ophelia, and Uncle Richard. Adding to these memories is when you all visited us on the Arkansas side. As we reminisce, we are further comforted by our connections to our beloved Kiblah. Peace be still!

Condolences to the family of Richard Wingfield, Jr. Richard was a friend and classmate. In early 1990’s I joined Richard and a few other people to study and discuss African American History from the beginning. We would meet on Saturday mornings and it was always an uplifting experience. Praying for comfort and peace for the family.

I met Richard when I lived in texarkana back from 1992-1994. I attended his african history study group on Saturdays. Richard and I developed friendship and he was like a mentor to me. I soon moved back to Dallas and we were able to stay in touch for a while, but life happens. I have been trying to locate Richard for years via social media, LinkedIn etc ,but didn't have any luck. I thought about him this morning and type in his name in a Google search and this came up. Im deeply saddened because I learned so much from him. I still have his college papers he wrote on ancient Egypt, and other black scholars. I think he would be proud of the man ive grown into. My prayers goes out to his family. Im deeply saddened by this. The last conversation Richard and I had was he told me that he was proud that I was keeping up with my studies and I was crossing over from a intellectual to a higher spiritual being. I will continue to honor him to the best of my ability. Peace and love
