Jammie Lee Dansby, 88, of Texarkana, Arkansas, transitioned peacefully at her home on July 24,
2026.
She was born on December 26, 1937, in Mandeville, Arkansas. Jammie was the daughter of the
late J.N. and Jennie Dansby and she had one daughter, Frietchie Ware, who preceded her in
death.
Jammie graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1956 and later attended
Beauty and Barber College in Tyler, Texas. After completing her education, she returned
home and worked for several years at D & Z Ammunition Plant. She later moved to San
Jose, California, where she worked for a tech company until her retirement. She
eventually returned to her hometown of Mandeville, Arkansas, to enjoy a quieter life
surrounded by many family members and familiar places.
Jammie found joy in the simple things. She loved spending time outdoors, especially
during pecan season, gathering pecans from trees on the family property. She also enjoyed raising
honey bees and harvesting their honey for the family. Her quiet spirit was reflected in the simple life
she enjoyed and the peace she found in nature.
In addition to her daughter; Frietchie, she was preceded in death by her parents, J.N. and Jennie
Dansby; her sister, Laverne Garrison; and her brothers, Emmitt Charles Dansby, Theodore
Rochester Dansby and Lester Evon Dansby.
She leaves to cherish her memory her siblings, Ermer Pondexter (Ricky), Justine Dansby,
James N. Dansby (Joyce), Cylestine Thornton (Vance), Brinder Bursey (Ray C.),
Lathaire Dansby and Adrin Dale Dansby, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended
family members and dear friends.
Viewing will be held at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church on Saturday August 8, 2026 from 11am-12pm and service is at 12PM. Interment will follow at Fairhaven Cemetery.
