I have never known someone who has the biggest heart, Ms. Mattie did. She was a mother, friend, a grandmother to my girls, a shoulder and she accepted me and my kids in her heart and her family. Missing you but you got your wings. Love had no bounds when it came to you.

Take your rest Mattie, hadn't seen you in awhile but i will always remember that smile and laugh, it was contagious. To the children, stay strong, because she was a strong woman. Continued prayers

I am going to miss my Aunt Mattie. We stayed in touch all of my adult life. The Lord blessed her hand's sewing and cooking to help many people in our community! Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning.

When I look back in time I see Mattie footprints through out my family history. We go so far back as in the days of living in Slocum Quarters and then being neighbors in Bowie Courts for decades. Mattie was like a mother to me. She even sewed for me.(Gifted Hands) Always looking for a good book to read. Hearing about her death took a piece of my heart. I could pick her food out of a line-up. Mattie and my mother shared plates daily in Bowie Courts. We had some good times on that BC Row. Living on that row with Mattie, Mama, Mama Jewel and Lucy Cummings gave us the knowledge to survive anywhere in this world. We will miss Mattie. Stay Strong family. Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted, He saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalms 34:18.

Aunt Mattie had the kindest heart this side of heaven. Had many good times through the years being in her presence. She sincerely loved her family. I will cherish precious memories forever. 2 Timothy 4:7. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Take your sweetheart. Humbly submitted, Sharon Patton Johnson
