Pauline Lane Jenkins was born on August 9, 1925, in Bloomburg, Texas, to Marie Lane Piggie and Tommy Roberson. She attended and graduated from Atlanta, Texas Public Schools. She married Alfred Jenkins in 1943, who preceded her in death.

A faithful member of Sunset Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years, she served diligently in the following ministries: Usher, Missionary, Building Fund Committee, Vacation Bible School, and Culinary Department.

Mrs. Jenkins was an employee of St. Michael Hospital for over 30 years. In 1988, she was acknowledged in the Texarkana Gazette for her notable service as elevator operator. With the arrival of automatic elevators, no longer requiring an elevator operator, she enrolled in the Nurse’s Aide Program and remained at St. Michael Hospital, working in the hospital recovery room.

Mrs. Jenkins was predeceased by her parents, Marie Lane Piggie and Tommy Roberson, her husband, Alfred Jenkins, and one sister, Joe Mattie Jordan.

She leaves to mourn her passing: the loving and caring family of Hollis (deceased) and Ida Belle Patton, Texarkana, Arkansas. Grandchildren: Dr. Sandra Patton J.D., Sugarland, Texas,
Sharon Patton Johnson, Texarkana, Arkansas, Garry Johnson, Jr., Sugarland, Texas, Jonathan Boudousquie, Sugarland, Texas, Dr. Cimberli (Nakia Sr.) Darrough Ed.D, Rosenberg, Texas, Great-Grandson: Nakia Darrough II, Rosenberg, Texas, Special Friends: Bertha Hooper, Clarice Armstrong Taylor, Carl and Evelyn Donald, Texarkana, Texas, Her Sunset Missionary Baptist Church Family, Texarkana, Texas, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Sharing the loss of Mrs. Polly with her family, church members and all who knew her.
Because of her service as a CNA @ Christus, a scholarship has been established at Texarkana Nursing Academy, in her honor. Hearts are heavy in her memory.

It is with great sorrow that I accept the will of God in the passing of my dear friend, Mrs. Jenkins. Our love for one another had endured for over 50 years. My deepest sympathy to the rest of her family and friends. I will miss her. May God bless and keep us all in His care.

So many funny memories of Mrs. Jenkins in the kitchen at Sunset. She was a jewel. She is gone but will never be forgotten. Praying for the Entire Patton Family! I miss you Ida Belle!

To my extended family, my thoughts & prayers are with you all today. Never meet Mrs. Polly but I know she must have been a beautiful person because I know some of her family & they are the best. I know from conversations that she was loved & will be truly missed. Love ya'll 💘
