Sunset: Jan. 18, 2024 A Glimpse into The Life of Mr. Leo Ray Carter, Sr Mr. Leo Ray Cater was born March 19, 1937, to the parentage of Robert Carter and Ida Bryson. Leo lived most of his life in the East Texas area and San Francisco, California area. Leo spent two years in the United States Marine Corp where he was honorably discharged. He worked in the field of transportation and was a Taxi driver in both Texas and California. Leo loved to play cards and dominoes with his friends and thought he was the best. He was a lover of jazz music and could tell you any song and the artist just by listening. He couldn’t go a day without drinking a pepsi. Leo is preceded in death by his father, Robert Carter, his mother, Ida Bryson, and his younger Brother Cleo France. He leaves a loving family of his children, Pasha Omar Carter, San Francisco, California, Saudiea Carter, Ahmod (Ebony) Carter, Natasha (Tom) Briggs, and Leo Ray Carter, Jr all of Texarkana, Texas. He also has 14 grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and a number of friends and family. Leo will be greatly missed. The family wishes to express its sincere appreciation because you cared, you sent words of prayer, a phone call, a text, or just a thought of us during this time. Your love and laughter wasn’t unnoticed. We will never forget how thoughtful you all have been, showing your love and being a friend. The life of Heather came to a close on Sunday, January 7 at her home. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, located in New Boston, Texas. Heather started her education at Hope Public Schools. And graduated from Texas High School in the class of 2012, she also attended Henderson State University and earned an associate degree as a History Teacher. Heather was a friend to many but always had a heart of gold. Heather married Jacob Swink June 9, 2018. She also was employed by Texarkana Independent School District. She was preceded in death by 1 brother, John Alfred Adam, fraternal grandparents, JB & Murline Scoggins and John & Maxine Adams and her fur baby Bailey. She transitioned on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. She was a 1966 graduate of Dunbar High School and retired from Texarkana Arkansas School District. She was a member of Mt. Orange Baptist Church where she served faithfully in the Usher Ministry for several years. Mary was married in holy matrimony to the late Robert Flagg, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Flagg, Sr., daughter, Tina Flagg, son, Robert Flagg, Jr., a brother and sister. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Samuel "Randy" Whitaker, Vernon Whitaker, Freddie "Big Curly" Whitaker and Phillip "Phil" Whitaker. His parents were Roy (Doc/ Fess) Walker, Jr. and Almeta Ellis-Walker who preceded him in death. Nate retired from Red River Army Depot and was a United States Army Veteran. He was an awesome caregiver to Ms. Lavert, whom he cared for as his own grandmother. Nate had a heart of gold and was willing to help anybody. Nate’s infectious humor, laugh and smile will live on through his children and in those who knew him. Bro. Nate joined Lonoke Baptist Church at an early age. Later in life, he united with Prosperity Baptist Church where he was the young adult Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of the Deacon Ministry and a member of the Choir. Nate had a voice like an angel.
