Richard Charles Mosley was born on April 20, 1946, in Texarkana, Arkansas. He was the youngest of three sons born to the late Phelmar Augustus Mosley and Zelma Baptiste-Mosley.
As a child Charles was nurtured in the Canaan Baptist church and was a product of the Texarkana Arkansas School System. He attended Orr Elementary School and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in the class of 1964. After graduation, Charles was among a group of African American students that helped in the integration of Texarkana Junior College. He later transferred to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (formerly AM & N College) where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
During his lifetime Charles worked as a Federal Corrections Officer and was an employee of the Urban League in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After returning to Texarkana, he began an outstanding career in retail sales with Sears, Havertys Furniture and Pete Mankins Automotive Company.
Charles had a passion for cooking, especially grilling. He shared his delicious food with many of the sick and shut-ins in the Sandflat area of Texarkana. He loved music and hosted many friends in his home with good food, good music and good fellowship. Charles attended Church on the Rock for a number of years. He also enjoyed talking and expressing his opinion in many arenas… especially politics.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, two older brothers, John Edward Mosley and Thomas Lee (Bubba) Mosley and one half-brother Charles Graham. He leaves to cherish his memory, sisters-in-law Myrtle (Bubba) Mosley of Oklahoma City, OK, and Lula (John) Mosley-McGary of Texarkana, AR; cousins, Justine (Will) Mosley-Stephens, Joe (Mary) Mosley, Janet Mosley-Gaither and Jacquelyn (Lony) Mosley-McNeal, all of Chicago, IL, Sheila Hutchinson of Dallas, TX and Emmie Gamble and Ricky Jones of Texarkana, AR; special friends, Phyllis Lynch-Pope, Barbara Williams, Kaye Walker, and Donald Nelson; and a host of nieces and nephews. Last but not least is the Booker T. Washington High School Class of 1964.
